The Seven of Cups
Seven of Cups

Card Nicknames: The imagination card, the fantasy card, the many choices card, the false choices card.

Short meaning: The Seven of Cups card could mean that a person is given many choices, possibly too many to make a decision, or good choices mixed with bad, false mixed with real. Sorting it out may require intuition and careful thought, perhaps soul searching. The card may represent a creative person or the use of imagination, creativity, or fantasy. Like the Devil card of the Major Arcana, the Seven of Cups is a card that can represent an addiction.

(The full meaning of this card is under construction. Selected quotes to follow.)

Kenner (see Sources) - "In a tarot reading, the Seven of Cups often represents fantasy, illusion, dreams, and a tendency to lose oneself in revelry and thought. It could symbolize dream lovers, fantasy romances, and imaginary relationship. The card could even depict an embarrassment of riches -- but it could also suggest a tendency toward drunkenness, which could lead to promiscuity or violence." (Kenner, p. 164)

Seven of Cups Reversed
The Seven of Cups reversed could indicate false choices, misrepresented opportunities, or a failure to face reality.
