The Six of Cups
Six of Cups

Card Nicknames: The nostalgia card, the happy childhood card, the childhood memories card, the happy memories card, the past influences card.

Short meaning: The Six of Cups represents nostalgia for the past, memories of a happier time, or a happy childhood. Often this type of person is reflective and analyzes past experiences, or is interested in family history and may enjoy collecting old photos, listening to stories from elders, tracing genealogy, or scrap booking for the new generation. The card sometimes means that a person from the past has returned, or is now exerting influence over the subject's life. It may also represent current accomplishments based on past efforts or a solid foundation, or past influences in general.

Ellershaw (see Sources) - "Something from the past returning. A 'blast from the past,' old love returned. Old acquaintances. Connections to childhood. Happy memories. Nostalgia." (Ellershaw, p. 218)

Six of Cups Reversed
The Six of Cups reversed could mean negative influences from the past, for example an unhappy childhood, a negative influence or person returning, hiding from the past, being too hung up on the past, or "living in the past."

Louis (see Sources) describes the Six of Cups Reversed as simply "Clinging to the past." (Louis, p. 194)
